ABOUT THE THOMAS HOUSE

This project aims to target the needs of children how may have certain learning difficulties, who may not be able to attend mainstream school due to so. Many of these children do not go to school, and if they do so, commonly are provided poorly due to the lack of assistance in the area of education. Not only do they hope to provide special education for these children, they also hope to help them transition so they can possibly attend a regular schooling system. As we have learned from working with this organisation, many of the children within this region come ethnic minorities for hill tribes, who have a minimal understanding of their child's condition. There can often be a superstition and shame when it coming to having a disabled child, as a result of this these children are treated unequally preventing the with same opportunities to attend school that other children might have. This facility and project hopes to lift the stigma of disabilities within such communities, and show them everyone is the equal and should all have the equal opportunity to the best education and independent futur.
You too can help provide the children with the opportunity to a better education!

Project Pen & Paper's goal is to provide all children to an equal opportunity to education, and we believe to do so it all start with the basics. That why we aim to help provide these student with basic and everyday supplies such as stationary.

Our organisation is currently working, with support from the Maekok River Village Resort (MRVR), towards helping a newly developed educational special needs facility in the Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai, Thailand called the 'Thomas House'. This facility hopes to provide those with day care and educational activities for those who may not be able to attend mainstream schooling. They also hope to provide assistance to the parents of these children who spend all their hours caring for and watching over their children, so they can go out to work and earn money to suitably provide for their families.

We and the MRVR have come to an agreement that the best way for us to support their project is through financial donations, which the will then use to purchase the necessary supplies to provide the student with once they begin to attend the facility. As this facility is newly developed, they have little to no supplies to provide for these children. As well as this facility has been entirely developed off the funds and assistance of others working together with the MRVR, they do not have unlimited funding to help provide for this facility.  So we hope to fundraise enough money to provide for each child that will soon be attending the Thomas House.

Pen & Paper

WHO WE ARE

Project Pen & Paper is a student run non-profit organisation advocating for equal opportunities to education for all. This organisation believes that every single student, no matter their background, family or any living circumstances, should have the opportunity to the best possible education.

We also believe that every little thing can makes a difference when it comes to education. Even if its the simplest of things such as a pen and a piece of paper, items yet so many take from granted. So many students around the world do not live in circumstances that give them the access to such basic tools, so by working to help provide students with these everyday materials, we can help these children reach improved opportunity to learn.
